A belt driven heavy duty lathe (also called a cone pulley or V-belt lathe) uses a belt and stepped pulley to drive the spindle. It is a simple, sturdy and cost-effective machine for turning large, heavy workpieces such as shafts, rollers, flanges and big castings. Available in many bed lengths, from 8 and 10 feet up to 16 feet and longer, these lathes have wide beds, a large spindle bore and high centre heights for oversized jobs.
