Description
This is a rotary milling table (plain type) — an accessory meant to be mounted on a milling machine’s table (bed) to enable rotation or indexing of the workpiece.
It allows 360° rotation and precise angular positioning of workpieces, enabling operations such as circular milling / cutting, angular cuts, drilling, spot facing, boring, or creating evenly spaced hole patterns — things that are difficult or inefficient with a fixed table.
The plain model provides fundamental rotary/indexing functionality. (Optional indexing-plate attachments exist for additional indexing flexibility, but are separate.)
Features
High accuracy & easy-to-read graduations — the hand-wheel scale offers direct reading to 2-minute increments (for 6″, 8″ and 10″ sizes), enabling precise angular indexing.
Versatile mounting: horizontal or vertical — it can serve as a conventional rotary table (horizontal) or as an index center when mounted vertically (vertical indexing), giving flexibility for various machining tasks.
Smooth, robust construction — table and base are made from stress-relieved, close-grain cast iron (shock-resisting), ensuring long-term rigidity and durability under loads.
Fine adjustment and locking mechanism — provisions for fine adjustments when setting the workpiece, plus an efficient locking system to hold the table securely in position during operations.
Worm-drive with adjustable backlash and precise disengagement — the worm drive can be quickly and precisely disengaged; an eccentric sleeve with thrust bearing races encases the worm shaft, and end-play in the worm shaft is adjustable to maintain smooth, accurate rotation.
High rotational and positional accuracy specs — for example:
Table flatness within 0.01 mm per 100 mm.
Working surface rotates in its own plane to within 0.030 mm.
Centre bush bore true to table axis within 0.03 mm.
Maximum parallelism error over full 360° rotation of table: 0.025 mm
Function
Rotation & indexing — The table can rotate 360°, allowing circular cuts or indexing for drilling/milling at specific angles.
Dual mounting possibility (vertical or horizontal): You can mount it horizontally as a conventional rotary table, or vertically — using it as an indexing center for vertical operations.
Fine adjustment capability: Allows precise setting of work-piece position before locking for machining.
Locking mechanism: Provides a secure lock to hold the table rigid during milling / cutting operations.
Worm-drive with adjustable backlash: The worm drive can be disengaged precisely, and end-play (backlash) in the worm shaft is adjustable — important for maintaining accuracy over repeated rotations.
Benefits
Because of the above features, this rotary table is good for:
- Circular milling / cutting — e.g. cutting flanges, circular slots, or round profiles.
- Angular milling / angled cuts & set-ups — when you need to rotate the workpiece to precise angles repeatedly.
- Indexing & equidistant drilling / hole patterns — handy when making bolt-hole patterns or repetitive drilling at fixed intervals.
- Boring, spot-facing, and other machining tasks — useful in milling shops for versatile metalworking operations with reliability and accuracy.
