Description
Apex Make Bench vice Model Apex-741 fixed Base Jaw Opening 90 mm
Bench Workshop Vice, Fixed Base is for Holding workpieces securely on a workbench for operations such as filing, drilling, shaping, drilling, cutting, metal- or wood-working, light hammering on the built-in anvil, and general workshop/fitting tasks
Construction:
Body & main structure:
High-quality cast iron (C.I.), using shock-resisting casting. The high-stress parts of the vice (those under repeated load) are “beefed-up” to ensure long life and dependable performance.
Main screw:
Large-diameter, fine-pitched square-threaded screw made of high-grade steel — ensures smooth, controlled jaw movement and strong clamping pressure.
Nut & internal components:
Forged steel or suitably hardened; the nut is detachable and replaceable — facilitates maintenance, repair, and long-term reliability.
Jaw plates:
Hardened steel, serrated (or serration-cut) for non-slip grip; jaw plates are replaceable, which extends the useful life of the vice even if gripping surfaces wear over time.
Finish:
Enameled finish (Oxford blue) — gives protection against corrosion / rust, and adds a professional workshop-grade look.
Anvil surface:
The vice includes a large “anvil” surface behind the jaws — this flat hardened area is useful for light hammering, shaping, bending or supporting workpieces once clamped. The anvil surface is described as “massive” — among the largest offered in mechanic bench vices on the market (in the 741 series)
Features:
Strong & durable build:
Cast-iron body plus hardened steel jaws and high-grade screw make this vice capable of repeated heavy-duty clamping without deformation.
Replaceable components:
Since jaw plates and nut / screw are replaceable, maintenance and lifespan are better — good value for workshop professionals.
Secure, non-slip grip:
Serrated hardened jaws ensure firm grip on workpieces — great for metal or wood, for drilling, filing, shaping, etc.
Large anvil surface:
Unlike small hobby vices, 741 offers a generous anvil area behind the jaws — allowing light hammering or supporting workpieces for shaping or bending after clamping.
Smooth, precise operation:
The fine-pitch square-thread screw offers fine control — you can clamp gradually, adjusting pressure precisely, rather than abrupt tightening.
Versatility across sizes:
The 741 series spans from small vices (2¼″) suitable for light tasks to heavy-duty large vices (12″) for serious fabrication/workshop work, giving a wide selection in one product line.
Applications:
Metal-working tasks:
Holding metal bars, sheets or parts for filing, drilling, grinding, cutting.
Wood-working tasks:
Holding wooden pieces for sawing, chiselling, sanding, gluing, shaping.
Fabrication/workshop tasks:
Clamping components for welding, shaping, bending, alignment or assembly.
Maintenance/repair work:
Holding parts securely for servicing, reshaping, cutting, or modification.
General workshop & hobby use:
Useful in garages, small workshops, DIY setups, educational labs where stable, reliable clamping is required.
